This caramel sauce adds a major upgrade to cakes, pies, quick breads and non-dairy ice cream. It’s also amazing as a dipping sauce for sliced apples. It’s sweet, sticky, buttery, and tastes phenomenal on anything it touches. 

Traditional caramel sauce is made using sugar, butter and heavy cream. The vegan version of uses brown sugar, almond milk and vegan stick butter.

Any unused caramel sauce can be stored in the refrigerator in a glass container for up to a month. It will solidify in the fridge, but you can make it liquid again by heating it up in the microwave or in a saucepan.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp almond milk
  • 8 tbsp non-dairy butter

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to a saucepan.
  • Cook on a medium boil for approximately 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. The mixture will thicken as it cools. (The sauce will eventually solidify. If you would like to use it again, just re-heat)
