What is Delicata Squash?
Delicata Squash is is a variety of winter squash with cream-coloured cylindrical fruits striped in green or orange. It is also known as peanut squash, Bohemian squash, or sweet potato squash.
Unlike other varieties of squash, the Delicata’s skin is edible and is absolutely delicious. Be sure to wash the squash well before roasting as the skin is usually coated in a wax used for preserving the squash.
Delicata squash is low in calories and it is a powerhouse of carotenoids and vitamin-A.

What does Delicata Squash taste like?
It has a sweet, and creamy flesh, which tastes like a cross between butternut squash and sweet potato.
How to Cook Delicata Squash

The skin is edible, so there’s no need to peel the squash. First, cut the squash in half lengthwise. Then, use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and the stringy flesh. Finally, cut the seeded squash halves into thick slices.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Arrange the squash on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake the squash for 18-20 minutes or until tender.

- 2 Delicata squash, washed and dried
- (approx) 3 tbsp olive oil
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Arrange the squash on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake the squash for 18-20 minutes or until tender.
